How to Customize Firewall Authentication HTML Files

  • Last updated on

The offline authentication process on the CloudGen Firewall includes greeting messages and requests to the clients accessing the network. For proper display of authentication messages according to corporate guidelines and branding, configure custom HTML pages and upload them as binary files. Authentication files are located in /phion0/fwauthd/. Do not modify existing HTML files as this will result in a dirty release.

Limitations

  • Custom HTML pages are NOT included in PAR files.
  • Custom HTML pages are NOT synced to HA peers.

Step 1. Customize the HTML Files

Copy the HTML file to be modified and edit the file according to your requirements.

  1. Navigate to the folder /phion0/fwauthd/
  2. Copy the HTML file and rename it. E.g., from index.html to indexcustom.html.
  3. Modify the file and save it in /phion0/fwauthd/.
  4. When using images, place them in /phion0/fwauthd/lib/.

Step 2. Upload the Custom HTML Files

Upload the custom files to the CloudGen Firewall.

  1. Go to CONFIGURATION > Configuration Tree > Box > Virtual Servers > your virtual server > Assigned Services > Firewall > Forwarding Settings.
  2. In the left navigation, select Authentication Messages.
  3. Click Lock.
  4. Click + to add a custom file entry. The Custom HTML Files window opens.
  5. Select Binary as the Type of the authentication message.
  6. Enter the complete file name in the Name field. E.g., indexcustom.html
  7. Enter the path to the server root, starting with '/'.
  8. Click Ex/Import and import the file.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Repeat these steps for all customized files.
  11. Click Send Changes and Activate.

You can use pictures without having to upload them:

  6. Enter the path to the server root, starting with '/' and ending with / lib / filename.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Click Send Changes and Activate.

Step 3. Use the Custom HTML Files

In the authentication configuration, replace the default authentication message files with the uploaded custom files (e.g., replace index.html with indexcustom.html).

  1. Go to CONFIGURATION > Configuration Tree > Box > Virtual Servers > your virtual server > Assigned Services > Firewall > Forwarding Settings.
  2. From the Configuration Mode, select Advanced View.
  3. In the left navigation, select Authentication.
  4. Click Lock.
  5. Next to Operational Settings, click Edit.
  6. In the Customization section, select the custom files to be used for the authentication processes.
  7. Click Send Changes and Activate.
