How to Enable ArchiveOne Installation Logging

  • Last updated on

From ArchiveOne v7.3, the installation logging is enabled by default and the logs are generated in C:\ArchiveOneInstallLogs.

In older versions of ArchiveOne, you can enable the installation logs as follows:

Step 1. Enable Windows Installer Logging

At a command prompt, navigate to the directory containing the installer, and run the installer file with the following switches:
/v"/l*v C:/setup.log"

For example:
installer.exe /v"/l*v C:/setup.log"

The trace is generated in the specified output location. The log file is typically 600 Kb in size.

Step 2. Enable ArchiveOne Logging

The procedure described in this section involves editing the Windows machine registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require reinstallation of Windows. Barracuda cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk. It is highly recommended that you create a backup of the registry before making any changes.

  1. On the Archive server, run regedit to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Create the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\C2C Systems\Install
  3. Create a new DWORD called Trace, with a value of 1.
  4. Close the Registry Editor.

The trace file is generated in the %temp% directory, by default: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp

The log file is typically 50 Kb in size.
