How do I set a retention policy for the Message Log on my Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall in firmware version 4.0 and above?

Applies to Email Security Gateway, firmware versions 4.0 and above.



On Email Security Gateway firmware versions 4.0 and above, the administrator can set retention policy for the Message Log based on days. This is set under Basic > Administration > Message Log Options. To enable retention policy, set Enable Message Log Retention to Yes, and set the number of days to keep mail for under Days to Keep Messages. This will only affect the Message Log and not the user quarantine accounts.

Additional Note:

If someone has previously set  Enable Message Log Retention to Yes and you no longer wish to have a specified amount of days to keep the message log, simply set Enable Message Log Retention to NO and the Barracuda will automatically maintain the message log to the standard 75% of the Mail/Log Storage from the BASIC > Status TAB.  As noted under the Performance Statistics group.
