Barracuda Managed Workplace

User Requirements and Setup

  • Last updated on

To integrate Barracuda Managed Workplace with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU1 MP1, you must ensure the following:

  • You must install the Symantec Endpoint Protection service module, which is available in Update Center. The service module adds two new policy modules to the system (one for the management servers and one for the clients). Then add these policy modules to a policy set, or apply them to the corresponding groups or devices to begin monitoring. See “Using Service Modules” in the User Guide or online help.
  • The role for the user working with Symantec Endpoint Protection through Barracuda Managed Workplace must have permissions to device management and reporting. By default, Administrators, Technicians andService Managers are configured with these permissions. See “Setting Permissions for a Role” in the User Guide or online help.
  • The user account for the user working with Symantec Endpoint Protection must have object access to apply the policy modules to the server and clients at a site. See “Setting the Objects a User Account Can Access” in the User Guide or online help.
  • To ensure full monitoring, WMI must be enabled on devices running either Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager or the Symantec Endpoint Protection client. If the device running Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is not WMI-enabled, you will not be able to monitor it, however you can still command endpoints through it from within Barracuda Managed Workplace.
  • To send commands to a Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, you must ensure that the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service URL is accessible from Service Center.
