PST Enterprise Preinstallation Test Assistance

The PST Enterprise preinstallation package runs a number of tests to ensure that the software prerequisites are in-place. If a test fails and is marked as False, the error must be corrected before proceeding. Click on the test for assistance resolving any failures. Once you resolve the issue, click Retest on the Analyzer to confirm the test successfully passes.

Internet Information Services

This test confirms that Internet Information Services (IIS) is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, install IIS.

  1. Open Server Manager, right-click Roles, and click Add Role.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select the role Web Server (IIS), and click Next.
  4. Ensure the following role services are selected:
    1. Common HTTP Features > Default Document
    2. Common HTTP Features > Static Content
    3. Application Development > ASP.NET
    4. Security > Windows Authentication
    5. Management Tools > IIS Management Scripts and Tools
  5. Click Next and, if prompted, click Add Required Role Services.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.
  1. Open Server Manager, click Manage, and click Add Roles and Features.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select Role-based or feature-based installation, and click Next.
  4. Select the PST Enterprise server from the server pool, and click Next.
  5. Select the role Web Server (IIS), and if prompted, click Add Features.
  6. Click Next on the Server Roles page.
  7. Click Next on the Features page.
  8. Click Next on the Web Server Role (IIS) page.
  9. On the Role Services page, ensure the following role services are selected:
    1. Common HTTP Features > Default Document
    2. Common HTTP Features > Static Content
    3. Security > Windows Authentication
    4. Application Development > ASP.NET 4.5
    5. Management Tools > IIS Management Scripts and Tools
  10. If prompted to add features that are required for ASP.NET 4.5, click Add Features. Click Next.
  11. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.

.Net Framework 4.5 Full Installed

This test confirms that .NET Framework v4.5 is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, you should install .NET Framework 4.5 from the Microsoft Download Center.

IIS Static Content

This test confirms that the IIS Role Service IIS Static Content is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, install this role.

  1. Open Server Manager, and expand Roles.
  2. Right-click and click Add Role Services.
  3. The Add Role Services Wizard displays.
  4. Ensure the role service Common HTTP Features > Static Content is selected.
  5. Click Next. If prompted, click Add Required Role Services.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.
  1. Open Server Manager, click Manage, and click Add Roles and Features.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select Role-based or feature-based installation, and click Next.
  4. Select the PST Enterprise server from the server pool, and click Next.
  5. Expand and select Static Content. Click Next.
  6. Click Next on the Features page.
  7. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.

ASP.NET 4.0

This test confirms that the IIS Role Service ASP.NET is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, you should install this role.

  1. Open Server Manager, and expand Roles.
  2. Right-click Web Server (IIS), and click Add Role Services.
  3. The Add Role Services Wizard displays.
  4. Ensure the Application Development > ASP.NET role service is selected.
  5. Click Next, and, if prompted, click Add Required Role Services.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.
  1. Open Server Manager, click Manage, and click Add Roles and Features.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select Role-based or feature-based installation, and click Next.
  4. Select the PST Enterprise server from the server pool, and click Next.
  5. Expand and select ASP.NET 4.5.
  6. If prompted, click Add Features, and click Next.
  7. Click Next on the Features page.
  8. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.

IIS Windows Authentication

This test confirms that the IIS Role Service Windows Authentication is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, you should install this role.

  1. Open Server Manager, and expand Roles.
  2. Right-click Web Server (IIS), and click Add Role Services.
  3. The Add Role Services Wizard displays.
  4. Ensure the role service Security > Windows Authentication is selected.
  5. Click Next, and, if prompted, click Add Required Role Services.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.
  1. Open Server Manager, click Manage, and click Add Roles and Features.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select Role-based or feature-based installation, and click Next.
  4. Select the PST Enterprise server from the server pool and click Next.
  5. Expand Web Server (IIS) > Web Server > Security, and select Windows Authentication. Click Next.
  6. Click Next on the Features page.
  7. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.

IIS Default Document

This test confirms that the IIS Role Service Default Document is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, you should install this role.

  1. Open Server Manager, and expand Roles.
  2. Right-click Web Server (IIS), and click Add Role Services.
  3. The Add Role Services Wizard displays.
  4. Ensure the role service Common HTTP Features > Default Document is selected.
  5. Click Next, and, if prompted, click Add Required Role Services.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.
  1. Open Server Manager, click Manage, and click Add Roles and Features.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select Role-based or feature-based installation, and click Next.
  4. Select the PST Enterprise server from the server pool, and click Next.

IIS Management Scripts and Tools

This test confirms that the IIS Role Service IIS Management Scripts and Tools is installed on the PST Enterprise Server. To correct this test failure, you should install this role.

  1. Open Server Manager, and expand Roles.
  2. Right-click Web Server (IIS), and click Add Role Services.
  3. The Add Role Services Wizard displays.
  4. Ensure the role service Management Tools > IIS Management Scripts and Tools is selected.
  5. Click Next, and, if prompted, click Add Required Role Services.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.
  1. Open Server Manager, click Manage, and click Add Roles and Features.
  2. The Add Roles Wizard displays. Click Next.
  3. Select Role-based or feature-based installation, and click Next.
  4. Select the PST Enterprise server from the server pool, and click Next.
  5. Expand Web Server (IIS) > Web Server > Management Tools, and select IIS Management Scripts and Tools. Click Next.
  6. Click Next on the Features page.
  7. Click Install to start the installation. Close the Wizard once installation is complete.

ASP.NET Extensions Enabled (Windows Server 2008 only)

This test is only run on Windows Server 2008 and confirms that ASP.NET extensions are enabled. If this test fails, you enable the extensions as follows:

  1. Launch IIS Manager on the PST Enterprise server.
  2. Select the server name in the left pane, and double-click the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions icon in the central Features pane.
  3. Right-click any ASP.NET v4.0.30319 extensions listed, and click Allow.
