Solution #00003710

This solution applies to Barracuda SSL VPNs, all firmware versions.

IPsec technology is normally hindered by the burden of having to deploy, manage, and maintain a client-side application on each remote computer that wishes to access the gateway VPN. Its inability to effectively provide granular access to network resources means that most organizations tend to limit the use of their VPN to a relatively small portion of their user base.

In contrast, the Barracuda SSL VPN takes advantage of ubiquitous browser support and dynamically downloaded modules to eliminate specific client-side software requirements, thereby enhancing convenience and flexibility. Home computers, computers on customers? premises, and even Internet cafés can be utilized for secure remote access.

In addition, while IPSec VPNs are designed to connect users to entire networks, the Barracuda SSL VPN connects those users to applications and services within the network, thereby enabling administrators implement client-centric security measures.
