This solution applies to all Barracuda SSL VPNs.

Personal Questions is a commonly used authentication module. The simplicity and ease of use of this module make this a common choice in many multi-factored schemes.

Personal Authentication relies on predefined personal information about the user. A set of five questions are managed by the system and, when utilized, the system takes a question at random and presents this to the user. A comparison is made between the current answer and the preset answer; if a match is made the user is authenticated.

The answers for the personal questions are held as private attributes for the user and only the user is able to set the answers. Setting the answers can be done in two ways.

  1. When the user first logs in with an authentication scheme that uses the personal questions he will be prompted to set his answers. After this, the user will need to provide the answer to one randomly selected question each login attempt.

  2. Personal Questions are held as attributes, so if the user has access to the personal right Maintain Attributes then he will be able to set or change his personal questions in the My Account > Attributes page.
This authentication method is a secondary module only and must be setup in conjunction with a primary module. The personal questions cannot be amended nor can a user add any additional questions to these.
