Barracuda Web Security Service

Key Management

  • Last updated on

This documentation applies to the Barracuda Web Security Service sold prior to April 1, 2017. As of this date, the service is still maintained, while new customers can purchase the new Barracuda Web Security Service cloud based solution powered by Zscaler, the leading cloud web security solution for enterprises. Click here for documentation on the new Barracuda Web Security Service.

Keys are used to attach user information to web traffic to control and manage access to Barracuda Web Security Service. You can manage keys in the following ways:

  • Create keys for Barracuda Web Security Service Connector or Barracuda WSA to enable them to work with the Barracuda Web Security Service.
  • Edit keys if you want to change their names.
  • Enable/disable keys to turn Barracuda Web Security Service Connector or Barracuda WSA on or off using Barracuda Web Security Service. For example, you might want to temporarily disable a Barracuda Web Security Service Connector while changes are made to a portion of a network.
  • Delete keys. Any IP address, Barracuda WSA or Barracuda Web Security Service Connector that had been using the key will require a new key to function.

Creating and Editing a Key

Manage authentication keys for Barracuda Web Security Service by accessing your Barracuda Networks customer login account.

To create a key:

  1. If you are not already in the Barracuda Web Security Service Manager interface, click the Web Security Service icon at the top of the Barracuda Networks customer login account screen. The Barracuda Web Security Service Manager interface appears in the screen.
  2. Log in to the Barracuda Web Security Service Manager.
  3. Select the CONFIGURATION tab, and then click Key Management.
  4. Click Add New Key.
  5. Enter a key Name. Consider using intuitive names, for example, “New York office Gateway”.
  6. Choose a key Type:
  • Choose Barracuda Web Security Service Connector/Web Security Agent if this key is for an Barracuda Web Security Service Connector or if you are installing Barracuda Web Security Agent. If you are creating this key for initial setup of a Barracuda Web Security Service Connector, copy the key, and then paste it onto the Keys tab in the Barracuda Web Security Service Connector interface. If you are creating the key to install the Barracuda Web Security Agent software, copy it and paste it into the Barracuda Web Security Agent installer.
  • Choose IP Address if you are creating a key that allows traffic from a specific IP address to connect to and use Barracuda Web Security Service.

Click Save.

To edit a key:

  1. In the Barracuda Web Security Service Manager, click the CONFIGURATION tab, and then click Key Management.
  2. Click the name of the key you want to edit. The Key Management Editing page appears.
  3. Make changes to the key Name or Type. You can copy the key data, but do NOT make any changes to it.
  4. Use the checkboxes to make any of the following changes:
  • Select Enable to enable a key and allow any IP address or Barracuda Web Security Service Connector using that key to access the Barracuda Web Security Service.
  • Clear the Enable checkbox to prevent any IP address or Barracuda Web Security Service Connector using that key to access the Barracuda Web Security Service.
  • Select Delete to delete the key. Any IP address or Barracuda Web Security Service Connector that had been using the key will require a new key to function.

Click Save.
