Barracuda Yosemite Server Backup
formerly Yosemite
formerly Yosemite
Why do many of the application binaries installed by YSB have no version information or digital signature?
Scope:
Yosemite Server Backup 8.0 and above
Windows XP/Vista/7/2003/2008
Answer:
Many of the .exe, .dll, .sys, and .scr files (.scr files are actually text files that contain YSB script) that are installed along with Yosemite Backup have no version information or digital signature. These files are all relevant to the disaster recovery process (which runs in a version of DOS only) and are not meant to be used within a Windows environment. These files include:
dos4g.exe; ytdrmp2.exe; ytdrmrb.exe; dos4g.exe; ytdrmp2.exe; ytdrmrb.exe; qt-mt336.dll; QtCore4.dll; QtGui4.dll; ytdosclb.dll; ytdossup.dll; ytwinres.dll; qt-mt336.dll; QtCore4.dll; QtGui4.dll; ytdosclb.dll; ytdossup.dll; ytwinres.dll; ytdrmbio.sys; ytdrmcmd.sys; ytdrmdef.sys; ytdrmdos.sys; ytdrmsft.sys; ytdrmbio.sys; ytdrmcmd.sys; ytdrmdef.sys; ytdrmdos.sys; ytdrmsft.sys; catalist.scr; help.scr; info.scr; insattnd.scr; insbin.scr; insdata.scr; insfile.scr; insfilec.scr; inslin.scr; insmsg.scr; insnet.scr; insoem.scr; insoemcm.scr; insoemjb.scr; install.scr; insuser.scr; insutil.scr; inswin.scr; mediainf.scr; objsrisk.scr
However, any of the YSB application binaries that are meant to run in a Windows environment do have version information and are digitally signed.
