How to Deploy the Barracuda Email Protection Add-In

Use the steps in this article to deploy the Barracuda Email Protection Add-In for the Microsoft Outlook client or Outlook on the web. 

The Barracuda Email Protection Add-In supports Outlook and Outlook on the web for Microsoft Office 365. The Barracuda Email Protection Add-In will work with an Outlook instance if the following conditions are met:

  • Users must have a Microsoft 365 account to use the Add-In.

  • Outlook clients must support a minimum API requirement set of 1.8. Therefore, we recommend using the Outlook 2021 client for the best experience. (See Microsoft Outlook Client Support for more information regarding API requirement sets.)

We rely on Microsoft services that may be incompatible with older Outlook versions. Once Microsoft support for Microsoft 365 services ends for an Outlook version, it may or may not work with the Barracuda Email Protection Add-In.

At this time the Add-In is not available for Android or IOS.

Deploying the Barracuda Email Protection Add-In

  1. Log into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (admin.microsoft.com).

  2. On the left navigation menu, click Show all.

  3. Then click Settings and Integrated Apps.

  4. Click on Get apps and the Microsoft 365 AppSource opens.

  5. Search for "Barracuda" to limit the view to only apps from Barracuda Networks. 

  6. Find the Barracuda Email Protection Add-In and click Get it now.

  7. A pop up window opens, requiring you to click Get it now a second time.

  8. The app wizard opens. Choose the users that will receive the app.

    • Just me – Only you, the admin, will be able to see and use the Email Protection Add-In.

    • Entire organization – Everyone in your organization will have access to the app.

    • Specific users/groups – Select the users that will receive access. Start typing a user or group's email address and the field will populate with matches for you to select from.

  9. Click Next.

  10. Click Accept Permissions to grant app permissions for the Email Protection Add-In.

  11. Sign in with your global admin credentials and click Accept.

  12. Verify that the permissions were accepted and click Next.

  13. Verify the details and click Finish deployment

  14. You will see a screen showing that the deployment completed successfully. Note that in some cases, it can take up to 24 hours for the Email Protection Add-In to appear.

  15. Verify that the Email Protection Add-In appears in the Integrated Apps section.

After the Email Protection Add-In is deployed, you will receive an email from Microsoft. The Add-In is now visible in Outlook and Outlook on the web.
