Setting Up macOS Patching Policies

  • Last updated on

In Barracuda RMM, macOS patching is done through macOS patching policies. You can use the existing default macOS patching policy that has been created for you and is already applied to sites through the existing Service Plans. See About the Default macOS Patching Policy.

You can also create your own macOS patching policies with custom settings. For more information, see Creating a New macOS Patching Policy and Configuring a macOS Patching Policy.

The macOS patching policy runs on Onsite Manager devices and on Device Manager devices that were prepped using the macOS Prep Utility. See Deploying Onsite Manager within a Domain. If you have trouble running the macOS Prep Utility, see this Knowledgebase article.
macOS Patching Policies and User Settings

macOS patching policies override the user settings on the macOS device. Every 24 hours, the macOS patching policy is compared to the macOS update settings on the device. If the settings are different, the settings in the macOS patching policy is used.
