Tasks are never deleted automatically by the system. You can only delete tasks that were created using the Calendar; you cannot delete tasks that were created using an automation policy. Tasks created using a policy have a black triangle icon .
The Difference Between Canceling and Deleting Tasks
You can cancel tasks that are pending. Cancelling a task leaves the task on the calendar rather than deleting it, and can be useful under certain circumstances, such as letting you view the results of a task. For example, if you cancel a Change Domain Password task, you will have a record of which instances were successful and which were not. This could be useful to identify why a task was successful or why it failed.
Tasks appear on the calendar and Execution results as "Cancelled by user".
For pending and recurring tasks, you can choose to:
- Cancel — When you cancel a Pending task, all tasks that have not started are cancelled, and all tasks remain on the calendar. For any tasks that are currently running, Barracuda RMM attempts to cancel them. If the task can be stopped, it is stopped and cancelled. If the task can’t be stopped, it is allowed to finish.
- Delete — All scheduled occurrences of the task are deleted and removed from the calendar. If any task is currently running, it is not deleted.
- Cancel and Delete — All scheduled occurrences of the task are deleted and removed from the calendar. For any tasks that are currently running, Barracuda RMM attempts to cancel them. If the task can be stopped, it is stopped and deleted. If the task can’t be stopped, it is allowed to finish, then deleted.
