How to Add Devices to the Barracuda Cloud Video Gateway

  • Last updated on

If you are using the Barracuda Cloud Video Gateway, you will need to install the Gateway itself and any third-party video cameras you might be using.

Adding the Barracuda Cloud Video Gateway

To add the Barracuda Cloud Video Gateway to CudaCam, follow these steps:

  1. Physically install and wire the Barracuda Cloud Video Gateways you want to add.
  2. Click the Admin icon AdminIcon.png in the side menu to enter Administrative mode.
  3. Click the Services icon serviceIcon.png at the top of the page.
  4. Click Add Device Type.
  5. In the Add Device Type box, select Gateway and enter the following information:
    1. Serial Number – Enter the serial number of the new gateway, found on a sticker on the back of the gateway, and also on the gateway packaging.
    2. Name – Enter a name for the gateway. Names must be 30 characters or fewer and can include underbars and dashes.
    3. Timezone – Select the time zone where the gateway is installed.
  6. Click Continue, or click Cancel to leave this screen without performing the setup.
  7. On the following page, enter your name and contact information. Then click Add.
You will return to the Add Device Type box, where a message displays to show the addition was successful. You can add another gateway at this point, or click Cancel to return to the services table in the Administrative mode. There, you will see the gateway you just configured.

Using the Gateway

Now that you have installed a Barracuda Cloud Video Gateway, you can use it to configure third party cameras for use with CudaCam.

Adding Third-Party Cameras

The Barracuda Cloud Video Gateway can control most third-party ONVIF video cameras. ONVIF (short for Open Network Video Interface Forum) is an open standard for video cameras that helps with interoperability. You must be using the gateway to use third-party cameras.

To add a third-party camera to CudaCam, follow these steps:

  1. Physically install and wire the cameras you want to add.
  2. Click the Admin icon AdminIcon.png in the side menu to enter Administrative mode.
  3. Click the Services icon serviceIcon.png at the top of the page.
  4. Click Add Device Type.
  5. In the Add Device Type box, select Third Party Camera and enter the following information:
    1. Name – Enter a name for the gateway. Names must be 30 characters or fewer and can include underbars and dashes.
    2. Timezone – Select the time zone where the Gateway is installed.
  6. Click Continue, or click Cancel to leave this screen without performing the setup.
  7. On the following page, any Barracuda Cloud Video Gateways you have configured are displayed. Click the gateway you want to scan, so the system can find the camera you want to add.
  8. After the system scans the gateway, it displays available cameras in black. Cameras shown in gray are already under control of the CudaCam system. Click an available camera to add it to the CudaCam system.
You will return to the Add Device Type box, where you will see a message letting you know that the addition was successful. You can add another camera at this point, or click Cancel to return to the services table in the Administrative mode. There, you will see the camera you just configured.

Using Third-Party Cameras

After you have configured a third-party camera to work with CudaCam, that camera will have the same functionality as a CudaCam camera. It can be part of a group and display the various camera modes.
