How do I alias a domain to my Barracuda Email Security Service?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 5 years ago

Solution #00005979

Scope:

This solution applies to emails sent through the Barracuda Email Security Service.

Answer:

  1. To alias the domain, go to your Domains tab and select the domain you wish to alias. There will be a field with a drop-down menu labelled: "Make this domain and alias of
  2. Select the domain you wish the newly added domain to be an alias of, and save changes.
  3. Now when you click on the domains tab you will see the Parent Domain, and in parenthesis you will see the alias, click on that alias to expose the aliased domains.
  4. These domains can now be accessed normally.

Note: Even though the domain is now an alias of a parent domain, and may resolve to the same email server, each domain aliased or otherwise needs to have its own unique MX records in your registrar. Otherwise email will not route properly to the ESS which will result in a loss of email.
