Solution #00005131

Scope:
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 4.2.x, 5.0.x, 5.2.x
- netfence firmware versions 4.2.x

Symptoms:

Log messages like the following are reported in the log file "Log" > "Box" > "System" > "klogd.log":

Info     Neighbour table overflow

What does it mean?

Solution:

The message is related to the state of the ARP Cache. It is recorded as soon as the ARP Cache empties itself due to a content overflow. The cache hence builds up a new.

The setting is located in "Config" > "Box" > "Advanced Configuration" > "System Settings" > "ARP Settings" > "ARP Cache Size". By default a maximum number of 1024 entries are assigned to the ARP Cache. To avoid frequent "Neighbour table overflow" notifications, this value shoul be increased.
