Native NTLM authentication with Windows 2003 server as authentication server does not work although the configuration of the NG Firewall system is correct.
Microsoft has defined very strict security settings for external authentication. These settings do not allow authentication requests from external (i.e. non Windows) systems.
Take the following steps to configure native NTLM authentication with Windows 2003 Server:
1. Insert following keys into the Windows registry using the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters\requiresecuritysignature
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation\parameters\requiresecuritysignature
Set the value of both keys to "0" (hex)
2. Reboot the server.
Attention!
If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Barracuda does not guarantee that problems that you cause by using Registry Editor incorrectly can be resolved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
