Barracuda NextGen Firewall X

Configuring a dynamic UDP Outgoing Address on the HTTP proxy

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 6 months ago
Solution #00005157
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 4.2.x,5.0.x, 5.2.x
- netfence firmware versions 4.2.x

Connection from a Barracuda NG Firewall gateway to the Internet is configured using a dynamic xDSL connection. The gateway is running an HTTP proxy, which has to execute ICP and DNS queries. As the address, which has to be used to execute these queries is assigned dynamically, it cannot be configured using the options First- or Second-IP offered by the graphical administration tool NG Admin.

Proceed as follows to configure the UDP outgoing address of the HTTP proxy server dynamically:

1. Browse to "Config" > "Box" > "Virtual Servers" > "<Servername>" > "Affected Services" > "<Servicename>" > "HTTP Proxy Config" > "Network".

2. Enter the address into the "UDP Outgoing Address" field.

This address must not be configured as server address in the server configuration area as is required for statical server addresses.
