Scope:
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 4.2.x, 5.0.x, 5.2.x
- netfence firmware versions 4.2.x

 
Symptoms:

Not all network card drivers available on NG Firewall systems support 802.1q VLAN tagging.


 
Solution:

The following network card drivers support 802.1q VLAN tagging:

 

Intel 100MBit:

Intel 100 MBit Driver by Intel (e100.o)
Intel 100 MBit Driver by Intel (certified by Compaq) (e100compaq.o) (driver module no available in Barracuda NG Firewall 5.0 and above)
Intel 100 MBit Driver (eepro100.o) (driver module no available in Barracuda NG Firewall 5.0 and above)


Intel 1000 MBit:

Intel 1000 MBit Driver by Intel (e1000.o)
Intel 1000 MBit Driver by Intel (e1000e.o)
Intel 1000 MBit PCI-e Driver by Intel (igb.o)
Intel 1000 MBit Driver by Intel (certified by Compaq) (e1000compaq.o) (driver module no available in Barracuda NG Firewall 5.0 and above)

 

Intel 10000 MBit:
Intel 10000 MBit Driver by Intel (ixgb.o)
Intel 10000 MBit PCI-e Driver by Intel (ixgbe.o)

 

Broadcom 1000 MBit:
Broadcom 1000 MBit Driver by Broadcom (bcm57xx.o) (driver module no available in Barracuda NG Firewall 5.0 and above)
Broadcom 1000 MBit Netextreme I Driver (tg3.o)
Broadcom 1000 MBit Netextreme II Driver (bnx2.o)

Realtek:

Realtek RLT8139 (8139too.o)

 

Only NICs driven by the modules above are capable of 802.1q VLAN tagging on NG Firewall systems.
