Barracuda NextGen Firewall X

On a legacy phion M3 appliance, port3 and port4 have a degraded performance, high latency or packet losses

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 6 months ago
Solution #00005246

Scope:
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 4.2.x
- netfence firmware versions 4.2.x

Symptoms:

When port3 or port4 is used on a legacy phion M3 appliance, a very high latency and timeouts can be observed. The performance is degraded.

Solution:

The ACPI Subsystem on the phion M3 appliance does not work correctly with Linux 2.4.x kernels. This issue leads to the inability of the NIC driver to raise interrupts which causes the problems described above.

ACPI has to be disabled on phion M3 appliances. It is switched off by default for legacy appliance model "phion M3". To switch it off manually, set the option "Config" > "Box" > "Advanced Configuration" > "Bootloader" > "No ACPI" to "yes".
