Virusscanner blocks archives which are not encrypted

Solution 00005275

Scope:
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 4.2.x, 5.0.x
- netfence firmware versions4.2.x, 5.0.x

Symptoms:

Why does the virusscanner block an archive with the messages "Encrypted archives are blocked"?

Solution:

The virusscanner does the scan not in one layer. This means that other archives in the main archives will be scanned. If the archive contains files like .zip, .rar, .exe, .iso, .tar, .tgz, .cab, .msi, .btn, etc. it is possible, that one of this files are encrypted and in this case the virusscanner will block the whole archive.

It is possible to set the option "Block enrypted archives" in the node "Config" > "Box" > "Virtual Servers" > "<Servername>" > "Assigned Services" > "<Servicename>" > "Virus Scanner Settings" > "Archive Scanning" from "yes" to "no" to disable blocking of encrypted archives.
