The config node "Client 2 Site" generates an error and firewall rulesets can not be imported

Solution 0005284

Scope:
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 4.2.x, 5.0.x, 5.2.x
- netfence firmware versions 4.2.x

Symptoms:

On opening the "Box" > "Virtual Servers" > "<Servername>" > "Assigned Services" > "<Servicename>" > "Client2Site" node the following error appears:
Status: Not Found
Initalize rule dialog
More details:
App object '*' not found

Importing a client-firewall ruleset (with phiona at "Box" > "Virtual Servers" > "<Servername>" > "Assigned Services" > "<Servicename>" > "Client2Site" > "VPN rules" or "Offline rules") fails with the following error:can not create object" app object '*' not found

Importing a client-firewall ruleset with client-firewall GUI does "nothing", although the import procedure finished properly.

Cause:

This problem occurs because service objects and / or application objects are referenced on objects, which has been already deleted. This means that some references are empty.

Solution:

This problem occurs because service objects and / or application objects are referenced on objects, which has been already deleted. This means that some references are empty.

1. Use the old phiona version 3.4 to import the ruleset - it will work without errors.

2. Now open the ruleset with phiona, search and delete all empty references (they are shown as Ref:<empty>).

3. Activate the new ruleset and try to open the "Client2Site" configuration with an actual phiona release - if no further error message appears, the ruleset has been repaired. If there is still an error, repeat step 2.

4. Export the corrected ruleset with an actual phiona release. It can now be used with the NG Access Client either as a VPN or Offline ruleset.
