Barracuda NextGen Firewall X

Indicate firewall rule usage in CC firewall rulesets

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 8 years ago
Solution #00005396

Scope:
This solution replies to:
- NG Firewall firmware versions 5.0.x, 5.2.x
- netfence firmware versions 4.2.x

Symptoms:

You want to see the firewall rule usage on your MC in your firewall ruleset configuration.

Solution:

By default, this information is not collected by the MC

1. Create a new cronjob ("Box" > "Advanced Configuration" > "System Scheduler")  on your CC-Box with following command:

/opt/phion/bin/getobjstat &

The firewall objects will be collected by the Control Centre at the configured time. Since every box is polled only once at the configured time, the statistics for the affected system will not be refreshed until the box is reachable at the next collection process.

2. Expand "Information" in the opened local rule set on your CC. The fetched statistics are read when selection "Reload Externals".
