How do I manually configure my Polycom Soundpoint to download its provisioning files from my Barracuda Phone System?

Scope:

This solution applies to all Polycom Soundpoint IP phones connecting to Barracuda Phone Systems.


Answer:

In some cases, you may want to disable automatic provisioning, and manually configure your phones to obtain their configuration from your Barracuda Phone System. To accomplish this you will need to complete this procedure from the phone itself.


Press the Menu button and then navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings. Enter the password to continue (The default password is 456). Now select Admin Settings > Network Configuration > Server Menu.


From this menu, set Server type: HTTP and set ServerAddr: http://<IP Address of phone system>/provision/ . Now select the back button until the phone asks you to reboot. The phone will now download its provisioning files and firmware from your Barracuda Phone System.



Note - There are some cases where the Polycom will be unable to install a configuration file. The primary symptom of this is a phone that suddenly cannot contact the boot server, or that is stuck in a boot loop. In this case, you can perform a factory flash of the unit in order to force a file system format.


For the Polycom 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, and 430 series phones: Simultaneously hold the 1 3 5 7 keys until the phone beeps and asks for a password, and then enter 456 and press Enter. The phone will reset to an "Out-of-Box" State.


For the Polycom 501, 601, 550, and 650 series phones: Simultaneously hold the * 4 6 8 keys until the phone beeps and asks for a password, and then enter 456 and press Enter. The phone will reset to an "Out-of-Box" State.


For the Polycom 6000 series phones: Simultaneously hold the 6 8 * keys until the phone beeps and asks for a password, and then enter 456 and press Enter. The phone will reset to an "Out-of-Box" State.
