Barracuda Phone System

How can I configure my Barracuda Phone System to register with my Cisco SPA400 Gateway?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 2 years ago

Solution #00004840

Scope:

This solution applies to all Cisco SPA400 Devices connecting to Barracuda Phone Systems.   The solution was updated to reflect the UI of the 3.0.x firmware in March 2015.

Answer:

Assuming that the device is already connected to the network, and has a static IP assigned to it:

From the SPA400 UI:

Click the Setup tab along the top bar and enter the following information into the listed fields.

User ID: gw+SPA400 (The User ID MUST start with gw+ but the rest may be changed.)

Port: 5060

Port ID 1: This should be the ten digit phone number of the lines connected.

Port ID 2: This should be the ten digit phone number of the lines connected.

Port ID 3: This should be the ten digit phone number of the lines connected.

Port ID 4: This should be the ten digit phone number of the lines connected.

After saving your settings, you will need to reboot the SPA400 for the changes to take effect.

From the Barracuda Phone System UI:

On the Barracuda Phone System, Select Providers, then SIP Providers and then click the Add a provider button. Select the Generic SIP provider type from the drop-down and enter the following information:

Name: Select a name you will recognize for the device

Host: <IP Address of the SPA400>

Port: 5060

Username: spa400 (The SPA400 does not support login, but we need something entered here)

Authorization Username: spa400 (The SPA400 does not support login, but we need something entered here)

Password: spa400 (The SPA400 does not support login, but we need something entered here)

Realm: <IP Address of the SPA400>

Caller ID: The ten digit phone number from Port 1

Direction: Select whether the SPA 400 will accept inbound, outbound or both direction for calls.

Un-check the Requires Registration check-box, and click CREATE.

Add the dialing rules for outbound calling in Providers -> Outbound Routes if you intend to use this device for outbound calls. For most people select 7, 10, and 11 digit dialing will be sufficient, but this setting depends on your telephone provider.

Add the phone numbers from Ports 1-4 to the External Numbers field and click ADD.

You can now assign these numbers to extensions for inbound calls, if desired, by adding them as secondary extensions. Inbound calls to each line will be routed wherever they are assigned.
