How do I configure my LifeSize Phone to register to my Barracuda Phone System?

Scope:

This solution applies to LifeSize Conference Phones connecting to Barracuda Phone Systems Firmware 2.0 or newer.


Answer:

Registering a LifeSize Conference Phone to the Barracuda Phone System can be done in a few steps.

From the BPS:
  1. Navigate to Extensions > People, and select the desired user.
  2. Scroll down to the section of the properties page labeled Phones and click Add a Phone.
  3. Select Generic SIP Device and click the button labeled Add Phone.
  4. Click on the new Phone on the properties and select Phone Information.
  5. Click on the extension number on the left side of the window.

From the SIP Device/Client:
  1. Open the IP address of the LifeSize device in you web browser. The default password is 1234
  2. Navigate to Communication > SIP
  3. Enter the Username from the BPS Phone Information screen in the field labeled SIP Username.
  4. Enter the Auth Username from the BPS Phone Information screen in the field labeled Authorization Name, and authorization user.
  5. Enter the Password from the BPS Phone Information screen in the field labeled Authorization Password.
  6. Change Sip Registration to Direct.
  7. Enable SIP Proxy.
  8. Enter the Domain (from LAN) IP address (or the Domain (Outside LAN) IP address for a remote phone) as shown on the BPS Phone Information screen in the field labeled SIP  Proxy.
  9. Change Proxy IP Port to 5065.
  10. Enable SIP Registrar.
  11. Enter the Domain (from LAN) IP address (or the Domain (Outside LAN) IP address for a remote phone) as shown on the BPS Phone Information screen in the field labeled SIP  Registrar.
  12. Enter 5065 in the field labeled Port, if one exists.
  13. Click the button labeled Save settings.
Define the Video Codec on the Barracuda Phone System:
  1. Navigate to Configuration > Phones, and scroll down to the section labeled Codecs.
  2. Click on the the box labeled For Incoming Calls and select a single codec for video. Click outside the box to close.
    (Note: It is important to select only one codec for video.)
  3. Click on the the box labeled For Outgoing Calls and select the same, single, codec for video. Click outside the box to close.
    (Note: It is important to select only one codec for video.)
  4. If you wish to make external video calls, you may need to follow the same steps for each provider. Please select the SAME codec for every setting.
