How do I configure my Cyberdata Brand Paging Device to work with my Barracuda Phone System?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 2 years ago

Solution #00006032

Scope:

This solution applies to The Cyberdata line of devices when connecting to Barracuda Phone Systems.

Answer:

The Cyberdata line of devices are not currently provisioned by the Phone System. They can, however, be configured to register to the Phone System as a generic SIP device. This can be accomplished in a few steps.

From the Phone System:
1. Navigate to Extensions > People, and create a person for the device. Barracuda Technical Support recommends calling it a recognizable name (i.e. Paging Adapter) and disabling voicemail.
2. Scroll down to the section of the properties page labeled Phones and click Add a Phone
3. In the Phone Type drop-down select Add a Generic SIP Device and click SAVE.
4. Click on the newly created generic SIP device and click on Registration Information button.

From the SIP Device/Client:
1. Enter the IP address of the device into your Web Browser. Please refer to the product documentation for instructions on obtaining the device's IP address.
2. Log in to the device using the username and password (the default is admin/admin)
3. Click on the option SIP Config found on the left sidebar.
4. Check the box labeled "Enable SIP Operation."
5. Enter the IP address of the Phone System in the box labeled SIP Server.
6. Change the box labeled Remote Port to 5065.
7. Enter the Username from above in the box labeled SIP User ID.
8. Enter the Auth Username from above in the box labeled Authenticate ID.
9. Enter the password from above in the box labeled Authenticate Password
10. Click Save and then reboot the device to activate the settings.

Nightringer:
Some devices support a nightringer extension. This is a separate extension from the default extension, which is used to provide overhead paging only. This extension will not be answered by the device.

1. Enter the IP address of the device into your Web Browser. Please refer to the product documentation for instructions on obtaining the device's IP address.
2. Log in to the device using the username and password (the default is admin/admin)
3. Click on the option Nightringer found on the left sidebar.
4. Check the box labeled "Enable Nightringer."

Other Device Options:
Due to the number and variety of installation types that the Cyberdata units can be used in, Barracuda support is unable to assist with configuration and connection to third party devices. Cyberdata provides excellent documentation to assist with configuration and offers support athttp://www.cyberdata.net/support/voip/index.html.
