This solution applies to all Linksys and Cisco SPA2102 devices connecting to Barracuda Phone Systems.
The Linksys/Cisco SPA2102 device has a very unique network configuration requiring a few special steps to configure the device. You will need the regular phone and network connections, but will also need a second network cable, and a computer that supports DHCP, for initial configuration. Configuration should still only take a few minutes to complete:
Connecting the Device to the Network:
The SPA2102 has four ports on the rear of the unit. The phones will connect to ports Phone 1 and Phone 2, respectively. The Network connection should be connected to the port labelled Internet. Initial configuration of the device can be accomplished by connecting a computer configured to use DHCP to the port labelled Ethernet. This is only used during initial configuration of the device.
Important Note - For security purposes, the Internet port's web UI will be disabled in case the unit is exposed to the internet. The Web UI for the Ethernet port will not be disabled, and should continue to provide DHCP for connections. It is not advised to use this port for regular internet connection.
From the Computer:
Open a web browser, and navigate to the IP address for the SPA. If you have not configured the IP address settings for the Ethernet portion of the device, the IP address for the SPA will be 192.168.0.1 from a PC connected to the Ethernet port. Click on the Admin link on the top-right (the default login is admin with no password) , then click Advanced in the top right corner of the page. Under the Provisioning tab on the top, make sure Provision Enable is set to Yes, Enter the value http://<IP address of the BPS>/provision/cisco/$PN/$MA.xml in the field named Profile Rule, select HTTP for Transport Protocol, and then click the button labeled Submit All Changes. The SPA2102 should now reboot and provision via the Barracuda Phone System.
