Where do I start when troubleshooting my Barracuda SSL VPN?

Solution #00003782

Scope:
This solution applies to all Barracuda SSL VPNs, firmware version 1.2.7.009 and above.

Answer:

When troubleshooting issues with your Barracuda SSL VPN you can examine the device's log files. The ssladmin is able to view the latest log entries under ADVANCED > Logs, the logs can also be downloaded from this page by clicking the Download Logs option. A file called logs.zip will be downloaded to the client system and this file will contain the entire contents of the logs directory in the SSL VPN software.

An alternative method for downloading the log files is through the appliance web interface on http:// port 8000. Navigate to ADAVANCED > Troubleshooting and click Download Logs under the SSL VPN Log Download section. This will save a file called sslvpn-logs-<serial>-<date>-<time>.zip, which contains the log files generated that day.

Inside both of these zip files will be a log file called sslexplorer.log. Running a search in that file for ERROR (case sensitive) will normally take you to where the problem items are. The other important log file is wrapper.log, which contains service related messages but is generally referred to a lot less than sslexplorer.log.
