Barracuda SSL VPN

How can I use Quickbooks via my Barracuda SSL VPN?

  • Type: Knowledgebase

Solution #00004299

Scope:

This solution applies to all Barracuda SSL VPN models, all firmware revisions.

Answer:

When using Quickbooks in a networked environment, a common configuration is to have the Quickbooks data file on a network share, which the program on the client machine connects to. When Quickbooks launches, it opens the data file and puts a lock on it, so that it can be sure it is the only client writing to the data file.

The Barracuda SSL VPN Mapped Drives feature does not currently support native operating system file locking required by Quickbooks.

As such, customers who want to connect to QuickBooks through the Barracuda SSL VPN should either use the Barracuda Network Connector to map a drive manually using the native operating system drive mapping or connect through via RDP to a LAN connected machine that has the Quickbooks client installed.
