What are up and down commands used for in Network Connector on my Barracuda SSL VPN?

Solution #00004447

Scope:

This solution applies to all Barracuda SSL VPNs, all firmware revisions.

Answer:

In the Network Connector client configuration, there are two sections for up commands and down commands, but it may not be obvious what function they provide.

These sections can be used to run commands when the Network Connector client connects and disconnects respectively.

The most common use for an up command is to run a route command to allow other subnets to be published to the client, but it is not limited to this. Anything in an up or down command is added to a batch file and is run 10 seconds after the Network Connector connection is established. Therefore it is feasible to run anything in an up or down command that can be run from a standard batch file
