Barracuda SSL VPN

Is the Barracuda SSL VPN compatible with an iPhone or iPad?

  • Type: Knowledgebase

Solution #00004823

Scope:

Applies to all Barracuda SSL VPNs.

Answer:

The Barracuda SSL VPN is partially compatible with the iPhone and iPad. Network Places and non-Tunneled Web Forwards (Reverse Proxies, Replacement Proxy, and Direct URL) will all work with no problems. Resources which use the SSL VPN Agent however are not compatible; this is because the SSL VPN Agent requires Java and the iPhone and iPad do not support Java. Additionally, the Network Connector standalone client is not compatible.

As of firmware 2.1 the SSL VPN now supports PPTP and IPSec connections from client systems to the SSL VPN. Compatibility with iPhone and iPad built in clients has been confirmed, this allows the iPad/iPhone to establish a full network connection with the SSL VPN over PPTP or IPSec.
