How can I configure Outlook Mobile Access on the Barracuda SSL VPN?

Solution #00005484

Scope:

This solution applies to all Barracuda SSL VPN.

Answer:
Microsoft Exchange provides a feature called Outlook Mobile Access (OMA). OMA allows users to access Exchange data by using mobile devices. This browser based application is similar to Outlook Web Access, but is much more lightweight and intended for use on cell phones and PDAs.

To Configure the SSL VPN as an OMA Proxy, the Outlook options section needs to be configured. These are the same options that are configured to allow RPC over HTTPS to be used. For information on how to configure Outlook RPC over HTTPS, see Solution #00003725 .

All clients that have access to Outlook using RPC/HTTPS will also have access to the lightweight OMA interface. The connection from any mobile device can be tested by simply connecting the device's Web browser to the following address:
https://<SSLVPNservername>/oma

If this link is working correctly then it is also possible to use ActiveSync to allow email to be pushed to the device automatically, so long as the device supports that feature.
