Solution #00005506

Scope:

This solution applies to all Barracuda SSL VPN.

Answer:
If the SSL VPN Agent fails to launch and shows the error "Failed to Synchronize. The agent failed to register within the allowed time period.", then this indicates that the Agent was not able to launch in the given timeout period. This timeout is set by the Registration sync. timeout (secs) option in the Profile that is currently being used. The default setting for this is 60 seconds.

The two most common causes of this error are:
  • A slow network/internet connection meant that the agent did not download and start in time. In this situation, increasing the registration sync timeout option show be enough.
  • A proxy is between the client and the SSL VPN which the SSL VPN could not get through. The proxy details will need to be added to the Profile so that the SSL VPN can pass through it.

The cause of the error can be verified by enabling Agent debugging logging (as described in Solution #00003788) and recreating the error while this is running. Once the error has been recreated, check the client system's agent.log file.  This is located in the users .sslvpn cache directory ({user_home}\.sslvpn\applications\sslexplorer-agent).
