What are Web Forward Templates for the Barracuda SSL VPN?

Scope:
This solution applies to the Barracuda SSL VPN, firmware version 2.2 and above.

Answer:
Web Forward Templates are introduced in firmware 2.2.

Web Forward Templates provide an easy way to configure Web Forward resources by cutting out much of the manual setup involved in creating resources manually.

Each template is tailored for a specific type of website and will automatically provide the required paths and, if selected, details for Single Sign On.

For example, if the Outlook Web Access 2010 template is selected and Single Sign On is enabled then the Web Forward resource will be automatically configured with the path /owa/auth/owaauth.dll so that the user is sent to the Form authentication page (as this is the most common authentication configuration). The authentication details are configured with all the standard POST parameters required by form authentication and uses the session username and password attributes to pass the current users details straight through.

All the data that is configured for the Web Forward can be edited in the event that the template will need to use a different attribute or parameters settings, or if HTTP authentication is used rather than Form.

If you wish to create a Web Forward Resource that does not yet have a suitable template then you may select the Custom option and the resource creation will revert to the previous style allowing manual specification of settings.
