Barracuda SSL VPN

Why is the Barracuda SSL VPN Firmware version 2.2 so much larger than previous versions?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 7 years ago

Solution #00005862

Scope:

All Barracuda SSL VPN units, firmware version 2.2.

Answer:

The SSL VPN Firmware version 2.2 includes an installation of Java 1.7 which will upgrade the unit's current Java installation during the firmware upgrade process. Upgrading the Java installation will provide enhanced performance and takes advantage of security enhancements that have been made available in Java version 1.7.

This will be a required upgrade prior any further firmware upgrades so all units that wish to upgrade beyond 2.2 at a later date will only be able to upgrade to 2.2 before any other firmware versions are made available to the unit.
