Scope: Barracuda SSL VPN
This assumes that the SSL VPN is already setup as an IPsec server, with a suitable range of IP addresses and a pre-shared key. There is a separate solution on setting this up here: How can the Barracuda SSL VPN be used as an IPsec server?
To setup the Windows side of things manually go to ‘Control panel > Network and Sharing Center > Setup a new Connection or Network > Connect to a workplace > Use my internet connection (VPN)’
Fill out the relevant information for your network as in this example:
Internet address = barracuda public IP address or FQDN
Select "Don't connect now, just set up so I can connect later"
Now, the connection will fail at this point because it is configured to use CHAP, we need to set it in the properties to use PAP.
Go to the network icon in the task tray, right-click on the IPsec connection, and choose properties
Choose ‘Security’ tab and enable ‘Unencrypted password (PAP)
Change ‘type of VPN’ to Layer 2 Tunneling protocol with IPsec
Choose Advanced settings and ‘Use preshared key’ enter the pre-shared key you have already configured on the Barracuda
Test configuration and review settings as necessary
