Answer:On June 18th, 2013, we had an outage of the Barracuda Web Security Service that lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes. The times when customers may have seen issues are GMT Jun 18 19:57:46 - Jun 18 21:17:48. The actual time for which customers would have experienced the outage depends on their DNS caching window.
Our diagnostic tools identified the problem as soon as it occurred. Our operations team traced the problem to an outage experienced by the DNS service provider being utilized by the data centers hosting key elements of the Barracuda Web Security Service. We immediately switched over to a different service provider and also ensured that this change provides a higher level of reliability. We will continue to monitor this service to ensure that the issue does not recur.
