A policy is a group of system settings that determine how macOS patches are deployed to devices.
With macOS patching policies, you can:
- check for updates
- download new updates when available
- install macOS updates
- install important system data files and security updates
To configure a macOS patching policy
- Click Service Delivery > Policies > Patching > macOS Patching.
- Click the name of a policy.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click Modify.
- Select or clear any of the following check boxes:
- Check for updates - Checks to see if updates are available.
- Download new updates when available - If a new update is available, downloads the update.
- Install macOS updates - If a new update has been downloaded, installs it immediately.
- Install important system data files and security updates - If system data files or security updates have been downloaded, installs them immediately.
- If Check for updates is not selected, none of the other tasks can be completed.
- Click Save.
- Click Close.
