Analyzing Security Score Trends

  • Last updated on

To help you analyze security score trends quickly and easily, the Security Score Dashboards and Detail pages provide tools that let you analyze the trend of your score at a glance.

Every Security box displayed on the Dashboard and Detail pages includes an arrow that indicates if the individual score in that box has gone up or down. This arrow represents only the recent movement, showing only the improvement or decline in the previous site scan.

If the security score hasn't changed in the previous site scan, a dash is displayed instead of an arrow.

The security score trend graphs displayed on the Security Score Dashboards and Detail pages provide a longer-term view of the trend of the various categories in your security scan. A graph is displayed for each one of the site security categories.

  • If a category is removed from a custom Security Schema, that category won't have a graph displayed on the Dashboard or Details pages.
  • For more information on Security Schemas and Security Score trends, see Understanding Security Schemas.

Customizing Security Score Trend Graphs

The options you can customize for security score trend graphs are:

  • Whether the graph covers days, weeks, or months.
  • What time period is graphed.
  • The color of the graph.

When you customize the trend graph options, all trend graphs are changed. For example, if you set the trend graph color and timeframe on the Security Overview Dashboard, that will also set the color and timeframe of the graph on the Endpoint Security Details page.

To Customize Security Score Trend Graphs
  1. In Service Center, click Dashboards > Site Security Dashboard.
  2. Click a site link.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To customize the graphs from the Security Overview Dashboard, click the Preferences icon, hover over User Preferences, then click Chart Preference.
    • To customize the graphs from any of the details pages, click any of the Security boxes, then click the Preferences icon.
  4. Select one of the following:
    • Daily
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
  5. In the Number of Previous Days box, select a number.
  6. Pick a color.
Customizing the Display of Security Score Categories

The colors of the Security boxes displayed on the Dashboard and Overview pages are an instant visual indication of each category's contribution to the overall security score. For example, by default, any category with a score of 69 or lower will show up in the color red.

You can configure both the security score value ranges and the colors of the security score category boxes.

  1. In Service Center, click Dashboards > Site Security Dashboard.
  2. Click a site link.
  3. Click the Preferences icon, hover over Site Configuration, then click Score Range Configuration.
  4. Clear the Use System Defaults check box.

You can also customize the display by clicking Configuration > System Settings. Then click the Score Ranges tab.

  5. Type numbers in the range boxes.

The numbers in the range boxes must be consecutive and cannot overlap.

  6. Select colors for each range.
  7. Click the Save button.

At any time, if you want to discard your custom values and colors and return to the defaults, click the Set default ranges and colors link.
