How to Configure an SMTP Relay Server to Send Alerts

You can customize the email domain for all emails sourced from the Barracuda Web Security Gateway. If you want your internal mail to be sourced from a specific domain, enter your SMTP relay server in the SMTP Server field in the Email Notifications section of the BASIC > Administration page. See the example below.

The following variables will use this server:

  • System Alerts Email Address

  • Threat Alerts Email Address

  • System Contact Email Address

  • Web App Monitor Email Address

  • Policy Alerts Email Address on the BLOCK/ACCEPT > Exceptions page

  • Test SMTP connection

  • Renewal emails

  • Infection Alert (ATP Alert, Virus Alert)

  • Reports

  • Backup Failure

If you receive “Username and Password not accepted” from Google’s SMTP server, you may need to create and use an App Password. As of May 30, 2022, Google stopped supporting third party apps and devices that logged in with only a username and password.
