SecureEdge Access

Barracuda SecureEdge Access lets you implement secure remote access to internal and external enterprise resources, whether on-premises or in the cloud, by using a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution. This innovative ZTNA solution is known as the Barracuda SecureEdge Agent, which allows users or groups to connect to custom applications or public endpoints such as SaaS services. Barracuda SecureEdge Access brings Zero Trust/BeyondCorp Security to your endpoint with a quick and easy configuration.

Barracuda SecureEdge Access provides the following:

  • Access on a per-user or multi-device level

  • Multi-Access Point capability (multiple TINA tunnels)

  • TINA tunnels between the SecureEdge Agent and Edge Services

  • Client-based, DNS-based web filtering

  • Different types of points of entry: firewalls, Edge Services, and Sites

  • Connections to public SaaS services via TINA tunnel

Barracuda SecureEdge Access supports all modern platforms:

  • Windows 10 or higher (x64, ARM64)

  • macOS 11 (Big Sur) or higher

  • iOS 12 or higher

  • Android 11 or higher

  • Linux

The Barracuda SecureEdge Access Agent is compatible with the following Barracuda and third-party agents:

  • Barracuda CloudGen Access (CGA). Note that when CGA and the SecureEdge Access Agent are running on the same system, only one can be active.

  • CloudGen Firewall NAC/VPN client. Note that when the NAC/VPN client and the SecureEdge Access Agent are running on the same system, both can be active at the same time.

  • SentinelOne / XDR endpoint protection.

  • Third-party VPN clients without DNS interception. Note: Third-party agents with DNS interception are not compatible. These must be tested on a one-by-one basis.

ACLs are not evaluated on the site or Edge Service the SecureEdge Agent is connected to, but will be evaluated on the SecureEdge next-hop. For example, when the agent can connect to two Edge Services, and a Edge Service ACL is blocking certain traffic, sending such traffic across the gateways will result in a block on the remote gateway, whereas sending such traffic across the gateway the site is connected to will pass. For SecureEdge Access to work, use Barracuda CloudGen Firewall Firmware Version 9.0.0 or higher.

Note that Apple Carplay and Android Auto are not supported when the SecureEdge Agent is active.

If you use .local domains on Apple iOS devices, it will ignore local DNS records and the resolution will not work. For more information, see https://support.apple.com/en-us/101903

Note that the SecureEdge Access Agent version 1.1.3 automatically does a fallback to TCP port 443 if port 691 is not available for either TCP or UDP.
