How to Allow Senders

  • Last updated on

You can allow specific senders by email or domain.

Use caution when adding to the Allowed Senders list. Barracuda Networks cannot remediate attacks sent from these senders.

Adding to the Allowed Senders List

The Allowed Senders list works across both Barracuda Impersonation Protection and Barracuda Incident Response

To add specific senders to the Allowed Senders list:

  1. Click the Settings icon settingsGear.png on the left-side menu to access the administrative functions.
  2. Click Allowed Senders.
  3. Click Add Allowed Sender.
  4. In the Sender Email or Domain section, enter one email or domain name you want to allow.

Note: Based on the safety note above, the system allows you to enter only one sender at a time, rather than adding in bulk. Enter one domain or email in this field and complete the steps below. Repeat the process, as needed, for each additional email or domain.

  5. Optionally, add a note in the Comment field.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Complete steps 4 through 6 for any additional senders you want to allow.
Deleting a Allowed Sender

To delete an allowed sender:

  1. On the Allowed Senders page, locate the allowed sender you want to remove. Click the Delete deleteIcon.png icon associated with that sender.
  2. Click Close.
Editing an Allowed Sender

  3. Click Close

For customers also using Email Gateway Defense, when an email is incorrectly blocked by the Machine Learning classifiers, there are a few things that can be done. Firstly, customers should report the email via the Message Log or Barracuda's Email Protection Outlook Add-In. This enables our threat analyst and engineering teams to use customer feedback directly to improve the efficacy of our products.

Another option is to use the machine learning exemption capability. In addition to making a sender exemption for those specific email addresses or domains in Impersonation Protection, IT admins can exempt specific email addresses or domains from machine learning threat detection by adding an exemption under the Machine Learning tab in Email Gateway Defense. However, it's important to note that adding an exemption does not guarantee that an email will be delivered, as it could still be blocked by other layers of the product. For more information, see Machine Learning in Email Gateway Defense.
