You can add a server to a service or rule group to load balance the incoming web traffic. Perform the following steps to add a Real Server:
Add a Real Server to a Service
- From the BASIC > Services page in the Services section, identify the service to which you want to add a Real Server.
- Click the Server option next to the service to add the server. The Add Real Server window appears.
- Specify values for the following:
Server Name – Enter a name to identify this server.
- Identifier - Select the way you want the Barracuda Web Application Firewall to identify the server.
- IP Address - Identifies the server through the IP address.
Hostname - Identifies the server IP address through the hostname that gets resolved using the DNS server configured in the BASIC > IP Configuration > DNS Configuration section.
Version – Select the Internet protocol version from the drop-down list.
- IP Address – Enter the IP address of the server.
- Port – Enter the port number of the server.
- Backup server – Set to Yes if you want this server to be used when all other servers fail or are out of service.
- Weight – Set the load balancing weight for the server.
- Click Add.
Add a Real Server to a Rule Group
To configure a Real Server to handle requests matching a content rule:
- From the BASIC > Services page, identify the Content Rule to which you want to add a Real Server.
- Click the Add Server option next to the rule. The Add Real Server window opens.
- Specify values for the following:
- Server Name – Enter a name to identify this server.
- Version – Select the Internet protocol version from the drop-down list.
- IP Address – Enter the IP address of the server.
- Port – Enter the port number of the server.
- Backup server – Set to Yes if you want this server to be used when all other servers fail or are out of service.
- Weight – Set the load balancing weight for the server.
- Click Add.
