Working with Email Distribution Contacts

The escalation distribution list is a list of contacts who should be kept informed of issues, but don’t need to be notified urgently. These users are sent an email when an alert of the assigned level is detected, as opposed to the users on the escalation call list, who are contacted quickly in the event of an emergency.

In Impact, email distribution contacts can be assigned multiple alert levels.

Adding emails to the distribution list

To add a contact to the escalation call list
  1. In XDR Dashboard, click Administration > Email Distributions.

  2. Click Add Email.

  3. Type the Email.

  4. Type the Name of the contact.
    NOTE It can also be useful to include the contact’s title or role in Name.

  5. In Impact, select all the relevant check boxes.

  6. Click Save.

To edit a contact in the escalation call list
  1. In XDR Dashboard, click Administration > Email Distribution.

  2. Click the row of the contact you want to edit.

  3. Edit any of the following:

    • Email

    • Name

    • Impact

  4. Click Save.

To delete a contact
  1. In XDR Dashboard, click Administration > Email Distributions.

  2. Select the check boxes of the email addresses you want to copy to delete.

  3. Click Delete Email.

  4. Click Confirm.

Copying email distribution addresses

You can copy a list of all emails for a single severity level, separated by commas, to your clipboard. You can then paste it to a text editor or email address box.

You can also add email distribution contacts to another account. You may want to do this if you have multiple accounts and want the same people to be on the email distribution for one or more of those accounts. When you add email distribution contacts to a different account, the copied contacts overwrite all the contacts in that account. All contacts in the target account are deleted.

To copy the addresses in a contact list
  1. In XDR Dashboard, click Administration > Email Distributions.

  2. In any of the severity columns, click the Copy button.

To copy contacts to another account

When you copy email distribution contacts, they replace all existing contacts in that account. For example, if you have five existing contacts in the target account and you copy one contact from the source account, all five contacts are replaced with the one contact.

If you replace all contacts by mistake, you will have to re-enter all the replaced contacts manually.

  1. In XDR Dashboard, click Administration > Email Distributions.

  2. Select the check boxes of the email addresses you want to copy to another account.

  3. Click Copy Contacts to Accounts.

  4. In the drop down menu, select the account you want to copy the emails to.
