In order to continue applying the latest security definitions to your Barracuda Web Security Gateway and protect your network and users, you should keep your Energize Updates subscription current. The Barracuda Web Security Gateway will prompt you with a message at the top of the BASIC > Dashboard page before the subscription expires. If it does expire, some features are no longer available until the subscription is updated, as described in this article.
If your subscription does expire, you will see the following in the Barracuda Web Security Gateway web interface:
- All policy rules still apply, block pages are served where needed, and changes you make to the configuration still take effect in the Barracuda Web Security Gateway web interface.
- You can still run reports.
- On the ADVANCED -> Energize Updates page:
You can no longer download the latest firmware. T
The message EXPIRED displays for the Latest General Release and Download Now is disabled.
You can still revert to previous or factory firmware.
The following is displayed for Subscription Status for every definition on the page:
Expired (expiration date) (Click here to renew)
The following message displays at the top of the page:
Your Energize Update subscription has expired. Please click here to renew your subscription.
Error: This Virtual Machine's subscription has expired and is currently disabled. (Click here to purchase)
On the ADVANCED > Firmware Update page:
You can no longer download the latest firmware. T
The message EXPIRED displays for the Latest General Release and Download Now is disabled.

- The BASIC > Web log page is updated with user web traffic.
The BCC section (ADVANCED > Cloud Control page) will be disabled on the cloud side if the subscriptions expire.
