Sending Automated Notifications

Barracuda WAF-as-a-Service enables you to automatically notify people or groups when specific events happen with one or more of your web applications. You can send emails or send a message to post information to a Slack channel. The notifications are based with events associated with one or more of your web applications. 

Setting Up a New Notification

To set up a new automated notification:

  1. In the top navigation menu, click Notifications
  2. Click Add Notification
  3. In the Web Applications field, select one or more of your web applications. 
  4. Select the recipients you want to notify by email, Slack, or both: 
    • In the Email Recipients field, enter one or more email addresses. Separate multiple email addresses by typing them on separate lines. 
    • In the Slack Webhook field, enter the Slack webhook for the Slack channel to which you want to post the notification information.

  5. For each event type, select which type of notification you want to send, if any, and select whether you want to send a Slack notification. Event types and notification types are described above. 
    Event types for which you can send notifications, based on the applications selected above. 

    • Server Health – Occurs when there are connection issues with one or more of your servers. This event will also trigger if a healthy server becomes unhealthy, or an unhealthy server becomes healthy.
    • DDoS Attack – Occurs when a DDoS attack is detected on an application.
    • Certificates – Occurs when there are success or failures with obtaining or renewing the certificate for your application. 
    • Licenses and Billing – Occurs when your application requires attention for licensing or billing. (For example: a license expires or automated billing fails.)

    For each event type, you can choose to send the following types of automatic email notifications. If you do not want to send notifications for one or more event types, select Off.  

    • Send Immediately – Sends an email as soon as the event type occurs.
    • Summarize Hourly – Sends a status email each hour, regardless of whether the event occurred in that time period. 
    • Summarize Daily – Sends a status email once each day, regardless of whether the event occurred in that time period. 
  6. Click Add.
    The new notification appears in the Notifications list. 

Deleting and Editing Notifications

To delete a notification setting:

  1. In the Notifications list, locate the target notification. 
  2. On that same line in the table, click the three vertical dots at the end of the row.
  3. Select Delete Notification. Confirm that you want to delete the notification setting. 

To edit a notification setting:

  1. In the Notifications list, locate the target notification. 
  2. On that same line in the table, click the three vertical dots at the end of the row.
  3. Select Edit Notification
  4. Update any of the settings, following the steps above. 
  5. Click Save
