How to Set Up a Windows Share

  • Last updated on

To enable a Windows share:

  1. Add a resource in which the public and internal host are the name of the share.
  2. Enable ports 137, 138, 139, and 445.
  3. Select TCP/UDP as a protocol.

If you are using an Entra ID domain, the name of the share should be the name of the machine suffixed by the Entra ID domain.

For example: \\<machinewithshare>.<windomain.int>\<ShareName>. In this case:

  • machinewithshare is the name of the machine hosting the share folders.
  • windomain.int is the Entra ID domain.
  • ShareName is the name of the share.
