Barracuda WAF-as-a-Service

Configure Applications for Your Container

  • Last updated on

To configure an application to use in your own container:

  1. Within Barracuda WAF-as-a-Service, at the top of the page, click Applications. Then click Add Application.

  2. Websites: Enter a familiar name for the application you want to protect. Then enter all possible DNS domains your users will use to access this service, including different forms, like www.example.com and example.com. Click Continue.

Note: Be sure to include all of your possible domains in this step. If you do not add certain domains, they will not be accessible.

  3. Backend Server: Specify the protocol for the backend server – HTTP or HTTPS, then specify its IP address or Hostname and port. This is typically the current IP Address or hostname associated with the DNS domains you entered in step 1.
Because you are deploying in your own container, you will enter a private IP address – possibly an address starting with a 10 or 127.

Because you are using containers, you do not need to test the connection.

The Test Connection button is to make sure the IP addresses used by Barracuda Networks hosted WAF-as-a-Service can reach an application's back end. Because you are hosting the container running WAF-as-a-Service, no Barracuda Networks IP addresses need to be added to an allow list.

    Click Add.

  4. Container: Displays if you are deploying in your own container.
Make the appropriate selection, then click Add.

    • Select the container where you want to deploy this application. The process is complete.

    • If you have not yet created a container, click Select a container later.
The Endpoint page for this application appears. You must create a container first, then return to edit the location.
To create a container, refer to Create a New Container
Navigate to the Endpoint page for this application.

      1. In the Deployment Location area, click Edit

      2. Select the Deploy this application in my own container checkbox

      3. Select the name of the container, then click Save

      Before you continue...

While at the Endpoints page for this application, a message displays while the new application is provisioning, a process that can take up to one hour. Wait until the message disappears, so you know the provisioning process is complete.
