Logging In with Multi-Factor Authentication

  • Last updated on

Multi-factor authentication provides security for your account, ensuring that you are the one logging in to your account.

Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication

To use an authenticator app, you must first set it up.

To set up a Multi-Factor Authentication app

To set up multi-factor authentication on your account, you need a functional multi-factor authentication app on your mobile device.

You can use any TOTP authentication app, but the suggested apps are:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • LastPass
  • Authy

The multi-factor authentication app generates a new, secure passcode on a regular basis. You need to input this passcode on the login page each time you log in to Barracuda RMM.

Once you set up multi-factor authentication, you always need your mobile device to generate the passcode before you log in to Barracuda RMM. You won't be able to generate a passcode using your laptop, desktop, or another mobile device.

Ensure your mobile device's time is set automatically. Devices with their time set manually may not sync properly with Barracuda RMM, resulting in mismatched passcodes.

If an administrator enables multi-factor authentication on your account, you will be sent to a configuration window when you attempt to log in with your username and password.

  1. Download and set up a TOTP authentication app.
  2. Navigate to your Barracuda RMM login page.

  3. Enter your username, password, and VAR name (if required).

  4. On the Multi-Factor Authentication Configuration page, click Continue.

  5. On your mobile device, start your authentication app and follow the procedure to set up an account by scanning the Barracuda RMM QR code displayed on the screen.
You can also set up the account using the displayed Account and Key.

  6. When you receive the 6-digit passcode in your authentication app, enter it in the box.
You have five chances and 15 minutes to enter the correct passcode, or you have to restart this process.
  7. Click Continue.

Once you have Multi-Factor Authentication set up, you have to log in.
