Example 1
You want a monitoring policy to automatically monitor printers.
The rule statement: (is a printer).
- Click the name of the monitoring policy to modify.
- Click the Automatic Application tab.
- Right-click the AND row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Rule list, select Is a Printer.
- Click Add.
Example 2
You want a monitoring policy to monitor Lexmark printers.
The rule statement: (is a printer) AND (manufacturer is Lexmark).
- In Service Center, click Configuration > Monitoring > Policies.
- Click the name of the monitoring policy to modify.
- Click the Automatic Application tab.
- Now you will add a rule that devices must be a printer:
- Right-click the AND row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Rule list, select Is a Printer.
- Click Add.
- Now you will add a rule that the manufacturer must be Lexmark:
- Right-click the AND row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Rule list, select Manufacturer.
- From the Operator list, select Contains.
- In the Value list, type Lexmark.
- Click Add.
Example 3
You want a monitoring policy to monitor every printer that is manufactured by either Lexmark or Xerox.
The rule statement: (is a printer) AND (manufacturer is Lexmark OR manufacturer is Xerox).
- In Service Center, click Configuration > Monitoring > Policies.
- Click the name of the monitoring policy to modify.
- Click the Automatic Application tab.
- Now you will add a rule that devices must be a printer:
- Right-click the AND row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Type list, ensure that Rule is selected.
- From the Rule list, select Is a Printer.
- Click Add.
- Now you will add an OR condition:
- Right-click the AND row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Type list, select Or.
- Click Add.
- Now you will add the Lexmark manufacturer rule:
- Right-click the Or row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Type list, ensure that Rule is selected.
- From the Rule list, select Manufacturer.
- From the Operator list, select Contains.
- In the Value list, type Lexmark.
- Click Add.
- Now you will add the Xerox manufacturer rule:
- Right-click the OR row and select Add from the context menu.
- From the Type list, ensure that Rule is selected.
- From the Rule list, select Manufacturer.
- From the Operator list, select Contains.
- In the Value list, type Lexmark.
- Click Add.
- Click Save.
